Our Story

Softball Ready was not created from a business plan. It grew from years of family experiences at ballparks, tournaments, and long drives before sunrise.

Softball family memory at the ballfield

It All Started on Field 1

It all started on Field 1 at Sandy Plains Softball Park in 2014. Our daughter was seven years old, one of four children in our newly blended family. We signed her up for 8U fastpitch with one simple thought:

“Let’s see how she likes this.”

Our oldest child, our son, played baseball, and two of our daughters were in cheer. We were completely new to fastpitch softball. In fact, we did not even know it existed until then. I bought her a T-ball bat and a pink glove, and we headed to the ballpark, having no idea how much that decision would change our lives.

The Journey Wasn’t Easy

Like many young athletes, she struggled during those early years. There were times when she was not one of the strongest players on the field, and more than once we wondered if softball was really going to be her sport.

Around eleven years old, she even talked about walking away from the game.

As parents, that is hard to hear. But we also knew that sometimes the greatest growth comes from simply refusing to quit.

Then something changed.

When she moved into 12U, everything started to click. Her confidence grew. Her love for the game grew. The player we always believed was there finally began to emerge.

From that point forward, she became one of the best players on the field.

More Than Wins and Losses

Travel softball became much more than games and tournaments.

It became weekends on the road.

It became friendships that still exist today.

It became lessons about hard work, perseverance, teamwork, and believing in yourself.

There were countless tournament weekends that began long before sunrise. Our older daughter usually slept the entire drive while I enjoyed the quiet, watching the sun come up and looking forward to another day at the ballfield. Looking back now, those early morning drives became some of the moments I cherished most.

Those weekends eventually led to something we could never have imagined—watching our older daughter earn the opportunity to play college softball.

Today, her younger sister is chasing that same dream.

Softball gave our family far more than games. It gave us memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Why Softball Ready Exists

Along the way, we experienced the same frustrations that thousands of softball families face every season.

Finding the right team was not easy.

Finding tryouts was not easy.

Sometimes teams desperately needed players for a tournament while talented players were looking for opportunities just a few miles away—and neither side knew the other existed.

We watched families spend countless hours searching social media, asking around at tournaments, making phone calls, and hoping to hear about the right opportunity before it was too late.

We believed there had to be a better way.

Building Something for the Softball Community

Softball Ready was created to make those connections easier.

Our goal is simple:

  • Help players find teams.
  • Help teams find players.
  • Help families discover tryouts and opportunities.
  • Help grow the game we have come to love.

This is not just another website.

It is something inspired by our own family’s journey through travel softball and built for every family beginning that same journey today.
